Sohu, Inc. is a Chinese Internet organization located in the Sohu Internet Plaza in Haidian District, Beijing. Sohu platform offers advertising, a search engine, online multiplayer gaming and different programs. 

Sohu was established as Internet Technologies China (ITC) in 1996 by Charles Zhang after he bagged his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received investment funding from friends he met there. The following year, Charles Zhang changed the name of ITC to Sohoo in respect to Yahoo! after meeting his fellow co-founder, Jerry Yang. The name was later changed to Sohu to separate it from the American company. 

Sohu.com search engine was in talks to be sold in July 2013 to Qihoo for around $1.4 billion. On September 17, 2013, it was later reported that Tencent has contributed $448 million for a minority share in Chinese search index Sogou.com, which later became a branch of Sohu, Inc. 

Sohu has been recorded on NASDAQ since 2000. In 2019, Sohu ranked as the 7th most visited webpage on the planet as indicated by the Alexa internet ranking site. Sohu's Sogou.com is a popular webisite in China now. The company also have different programs like (Sogou Pinyin), which is used for a great deal by lots of Chinese businessmen presently.

During 2015, Microsoft recorded market-dominant in the IBM PC compatible operating system market and the office programming suite market, despite the fact that it has lost most of the generally operating system market to Android.
